2018-2019 Student Handbook 31 further discuss the issue with the appropriate division chair. In the instance that the professor is the division chair, the student may schedule an appointment with the Provost. At any time during this process, the student may submit a letter of appeal to the Provost's Office that provides the specific details and information needed to evaluate the matter. Appeals of grades will be considered at the next Faculty Concerns Committee (FCC) meeting during the academic year. The FCC does not meet during the summer or intersession, and the decision of the FCC is considered final on behalf of the Seminary. Course Taping Policy Students must always request the instructor's permission to make audio or video recording of a course. Such recordings are to be used solely and exclusively for the purposes of that student's study for the course and are not to be distributed in any form without the knowledge and permission of the instructor. "Taking the course" by listening to recordings made in class is not permitted except in formalized individualized study situations. Extensions for Course Work Information about extensions for course work can be found within the Academic Procedures of the 2018-2019 Academic Catalog. Writing Center The Writing Center at Denver Seminary is open to all students and offers tutorial assistance and discounted editing services designed to facilitate stronger academic writing practices. Additional information can be found on the Writing Center webpage. The Writing Center is located in conference room 113 in the library. To schedule an appointment, email the Writing Center at Writing.Center@denverseminary.edu. Gender-Inclusive Language Denver Seminary students are required to use gender-inclusive language in their writing except when referring to God or when using a direct quote from another source. Students needing more information about the use of gender inclusive language may consult the Writing Center. Military Service Students Called Into Active Duty Students who report for active duty, either involuntarily or voluntarily, should notify the Registrar's Office as soon as possible. Students who cannot complete their coursework will be withdrawn from the course(s) enrolled for that semester, and all tuition for the incomplete work will be refunded. In cases where it is appropriate and feasible for students to finish their course work, faculty will make a reasonable effort to work with students to this end.
