D enver Seminary prepares men and women to engage the needs of the world with the redemptive power of the gospel and the life- changing truth of Scripture. This bold statement places us squarely in God's redemptive mission in the world. Our prayer is that every graduate of Denver Seminary, regardless of the kind of ministry they will pursue after graduation, finds their sense of purpose in God's mission. In the 2017–18 school year, we began to see the fruit of the innovations we've instituted in the way we do theological education at Denver Seminary. Because we have made more of our programs accessible fully online we had the highest enrollment in our Master of Divinity Program in the Seminary's history. Our goal is to make Denver Seminary's programs more accessible, more doable, and more affordable for students. We believe that these changes will help us combat the trend of declining enrollments in seminaries nationwide. You will see in this report that while the Seminary continues to enjoy a wonderful season of blessing in enrollment, on average students are purchasing fewer credit hours. Financially, that puts pressure on our largest source of operating revenue. Although we finished the 2017–18 fiscal year with an operating deficit, we saw an overall increase in net assets. A large part of that success was the receipt of over $4,500,000 in gifts. Through the generosity of our donors we were able to pay off the Seminary's remaining debt on our apartments as of July 1, 2018. Interest in our online programs continues to be strong and enrollment is steady. Thank you for being a part of the Denver Seminary community. We need your ongoing support to help us prepare men and women to make a difference for Christ in the world. We greatly appreciate the many ways that you contribute to our mission. Grateful, Mark Young President A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT 2
