For Harold, this relationship building is at the core of the church's role in foster care and adoption. "It's about developing relationships between the church and people in need," he said. "How do we equip the church to succeed in community involvement? There has been harm done in the past with the church getting involved in the child welfare system, particularly with indigenous communities," Harold continued. "Forever Families has developed trust with child and family services, and with pastors. We are training people within the church to care well." As for the future of Forever Families, Harold simply said, "We're excited. In Canada we've never had this type of relationship with the church and social services. It's huge for them to put their trust in the faith community." ENGAGE 19 Harold Park, DMin ALUMNUS Harold Park is the co-founder and director of education and training at Forever Families.
