71 Master of Arts in Counseling Ministries 1 Program Description Ministry requires interpersonal care for others. The complexities and diversity of our world and people demand providing practical help with personal, relational, professional and spiritual concerns. With this degree, students can become effective caregivers who combine their faith with care and counseling skills in a connected relationship in and out of a helping session. Students have used this degree in faith-based, secular, non-profit, international, and entrepreneurial settings not requiring a licensed counselor. Some churches accept this degree toward ordination. Program Goals 1. Graduates will be able to synthesize the theological and biblical foundations of their faith within their counseling practice of ministry. 2. Graduates will be able to implement strategies to counsel persons within diverse target populations. 3. Graduates will be able to engage the diverse world-views of their care-recipients while maintaining their own Christian identity. 4. Graduates will be able to assess a personal best vocational fit as effective counselors within a specific community. 5.
