Essays Update your biographical essay, and spiritual growth and development essay. All essays must be typed. You may submit essays responding to the prompts provided under Step 2 or you may copy and paste the following prompts into your essay submission. a. Biographical and Spiritual Journey Essay (750-1500 word limit) Since last attending Denver Seminary, address any events or challenges which have impacted, or continue to impact, your growth and development. Discuss the ways God has worked in your life since you last applied to Denver Seminary. b. Program & Vocational Goals (250-500 words) Talk to us about why you would like to continue your studies at Denver Seminary. How does your new degree fit with your career and vocational goals? What preparation do you hope to receive during this program? c. Personal and Formational Readiness Essay (250-500 words) How are you equipped at this time in your life to engage a new season of graduate school? How have your life experiences since last attending Denver Seminary prepared you to succeed in your desired program? d. Master of Theology (ThM) Applicants Applicants for the ThM program should submit a sample academic research essay that they have authored by themselves consisting of approximately 1,000-2,000 words. The essay should include a well-defined thesis that the applicant goes on to defend or refute. It could take the form of a book review that critically evaluates the book under consideration. It could also be a published article or an unpublished essay. It should be in the general area in which the applicant is applying (e.g. Old Testament, New Testament, or Theology). e. MA in Counseling (Clinical Mental Health and School Counseling) Applicants Applicants for the Master of Arts in Counseling should submit the required supplemental essay, in which you will describe an experience you had in which you engaged with someone from a different culture or people group from which you identify. Please share what you learned from the encounter. 3. Supplemental Information a. Two references. At least one reference must be from a pastor or someone in a position of Christian leadership in your life. All references must have known you for at least a year and may not be related to you. Both references may be Denver Seminary professors. Th.M. applicants must submit one pastoral reference and one academic reference. b. Official transcripts An official transcript is required from any institution where a degree has been completed since attending Denver Seminary. Master of Theology and Doctor of Ministry applicants only: An official transcript is required from the graduate institution where a Master of Divinity or its equivalent has been completed. Transcripts must be sent directly from the school in sealed envelopes to Denver Seminary. Electronically issued transcripts are acceptable if issued directly by the institution or an approved issuing body.
