NOTABLE News from the Denver Seminary community F.Y.I. Denver Seminary Welcomes New Faculty Nathan Scherrer ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF TRAINING AND MENTORING Nathan Scherrer has joined Denver Seminary as an assistant professor of Training and Mentoring (TM), having served students in the TM Curriculum since 2017. He has earned a BA in Bible and Leadership from Colorado Christian University and an MA in Old Testament from Denver Seminary, as well as certifications from the National Outdoor Leadership Institute and Jerusalem University College. Professor Scherrer's professional experience includes over 12 years in multi-national leadership development programs. A teacher at heart, he specializes in experiential education as applied to adult learning and in challenge-based andragogy to enhance the spiritual development in his students. Dr. Jeff Cook ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF COUNSELING Dr. Jeff Cook has joined the Seminary's faculty as an associate professor of counseling. Dr. Cook received his PhD in Counseling from Oregon State University and is also a 1998 MDiv graduate of Denver Seminary. Throughout his career, he has served as counselor, pastor, and educator. His private practice involves working with couples, families, and individuals seeking healing and peace. Much of this work has been with those who have experienced some form of trauma that resulted in a life of shame and stunted emotional experience. Dr. Cook comes to Denver Seminary after serving as associate professor and clinical director at Northwest University. Eva Bleeker TEACHING FELLOW Denver Seminary has welcomed Eva Bleeker as a teaching fellow in the Counseling Division for the 2020–2021 academic year. Professor Bleeker is currently pursuing her Doctorate of Education at Baylor University, while having previously received an MS in Narrative Medicine from Columbia University in 2017 and both an MA in Media and Communication and an MA in Christian Education from Dallas Theological Seminary in 2008. Professor Bleeker has worked in a variety of positions including hospital chaplaincy, pastoral staff, volunteer coordination of homeless shelters, and media production for mission and church-planting agencies. She has been serving most recently as an associated faculty member and CPE consultant at Denver Seminary. Washington DC Graduates its First MDivs Denver Seminary's DC extension campus celebrated its first MDiv graduates in Spring and Summer of 2020. MDiv recipients included George Pittmon (posthumously awarded in December), Debora Barr, Tennille Blackwell, Iantha Brown, Anthony Jones, and Juanetta Swann. In addition, Felecia Murray earned her MA in Leadership. 20 FALL 2020
