107 CHRISTIAN APOLOGETICS This department equips Christians to better defend and apply their Christian worldview in order to extend the mission of God in building up the church and reaching the lost through apologetics, evangelism, and cultural discernment. Courses develop a coherent Christian worldview by which to live and minister authentically. CA 500 Apologetics and Ethics This course helps students develop a Christian worldview that can be defended as objectively true, rational, and pertinent to all of life, and develop a Christian moral philosophy that can meet the challenges of the day. Three hours. CA 520 Science and Christian Faith One of the leading reasons non-Christians do not consider Christianity as true and pertinent is because they take it to be hostile to science. This course argues that "following the science" should lead to Christian faith, since there is scientific evidence for a Creator and Designer. Further, the Christian worldview encourages scientific endeavor, both in history and philosophically. Students will gain confidence that the Bible and science are not enemies, but allies. Three hours. CA 530 Cultural Apologetics: Morality, Art, and Story Apologetics means defending the Christian worldview as true, rational, and pertinent to all of life. To do that, we need to understand the culture in which apologetics is practiced. This course considers the cultural and intellectual factors at play that Christians must address in order to commend the Bible as true and the gospel as imperative. We consider moral issues, the relevance of art, music, and literature to apologetics, and how to concretely reach unbelievers in creative and biblical faithful ways with the truth. Three hours. CA 540 Faith, Doubt, and the Problem of Evil Many, including Christian celebrities, have recently "deconstructed" their Christian faith in light of doubts and issues they could not resolve. This course addresses this problem by considering the meaning of Christian faith, and how to handle doubt wisely, especially concerning the problem of evil—why God allows so much evil in the world. Three hours. CA 550 Religious Pluralism Explores claims of Christian uniqueness and exclusivity relating to theories of comparative religion. Other world religions will be compared with Christianity. Includes fieldwork with adherents to other faiths. Three hours.
