Chaplain, Major General, Lorraine K. Potter Chaplaincy Award
For excellence and potential in the field of chaplaincy. Lorraine Potter was the first
woman selected as the chief of chaplains for any branch of the United States military.
Dr. James R. Beck Counseling Licensure Award
For excellence and potential in the field of licensed therapy, and named in honor
of Dr. Jim Beck, Professor Emeritus.
Dr. Randolph M. MacFarland Counseling Award
For excellence and potential in the area of church and parachurch counseling, and
named in honor of Dr. Randy MacFarland, former Provost/Dean.
Conway/Maxwell Memorial Missions Award
For a graduate who is pursuing missions work after graduation. Eula Conway was the
Seminary dietician from 1952-1972 and Leaan Maxwell was the seminary bookkeeper
from 1963-1982.
Dr. Gordon R. Lewis and Dr. Douglas R. Groothuis Apologetics and Ethics Award
For distinguished work in philosophy of religion, and named in honor of Dr. Gordon
Lewis, Professor Emeritus, and Dr. Douglas Groothuis, Professor of Philosophy.
Raymond McLaughlin Preaching Award
Chosen by the homiletics department from a group of five top performing students
who were selected to preach during the spring semester. Raymond McLaughlin was
the first homiletics professor at Denver Seminary.
