A History of engagement.
Throughout our history, Denver Seminary has been blessed
with excellent leadership. One such leader, Dr. Vernon
C. Grounds, shaped the life and character of Denver Seminary
more than any other. Serving at the Seminary for sixty years
as academic dean, president, president emeritus, and chancellor,
Dr. Grounds cemented the Seminary's commitments to
academic excellence, personal spiritual transformation, and
the centrality of the gospel in our engagement with the
broader culture.
Dr. Grounds modeled and embraced grace, humility, and
compassion—traits that continue to characterize Denver
Seminary's voice and culture. His commitment to academic
excellence propelled the Seminary to the forefront of
theological scholarship, and his compassion for hurting
people set the foundation for our counseling programs.
