2025-2026 Student Handbook 51 4. Students who wish to appeal the decision may do by submitting a petition to the Title IX Coordinator within three (3) business days from the time the original decision was presented to the student. Please see the policy for details on the grounds for appeal. 5. The Title IX Coordinator will review the appeal and the student will be notified as to whether or not the petition warrants an appeal meeting. If so, an appeal decision-maker will be designated by the Title IX Coordinator. The decision on this appeal is final, and the student will be notified accordingly. Please see the policy for further details on the appeal process. Zoom Accommodations For Residential Courses: Zoom accommodations will not be available if a course is in the residential format (this includes practicum and internship supervision) due to the fundamental change a change in modality will make in course outcomes. The residential format is not considered an asynchronous experience and is not recorded. For those who have valid medical need that warrants reasonable flexibility of attendance, a formal medical accommodation will be put in place. If the medical issue requires the student to miss more coursework than is reasonable, a student will be directed to withdraw from the course and seek a tuition refund through the established process. The only circumstances where Zoom access may be granted on a short-term basis is if the withdrawal impacts a student who is protected under Title IX regulations. For Denver Live and DC Live Courses: For those registered for the residential section of a Denver Live or DC Live class, in-person attendance is expected. Watching the recording of a Denver Live class will not constitute attendance. If an issue arises that would substantiate a shift in modality to remote attendance, a student will be instructed to secure formal accommodation through the Student Care Office (in collaboration with the Registrar and faculty of record) to allow them to switch modalities. For Zoom Live Courses: Attendance requirements for Zoom Live course sessions will be administered according to the attendance policy in the syllabus. Intensives: All intensive courses are residential in nature and require attendance in person. Should a medical circumstance arise, the student will need to work with the Student Care team to either withdraw from the course or discuss with the professor the viability of attendance via Zoom for a portion of the course. Trigger Warnings As a way of being sensitive to the unique needs of our students, there will now be appropriately placed content warnings embedded into online resources to identify and prepare students for potentially challenging content such as content dealing with racism, misogyny, self-harm, and violence. If you find yourself in need of support due to the content of your course, please reach out to the Student Care office (student.care@denverseminary.edu). Pregnancy and Early Child-Rearing Support Pregnancy and early child-rearing are protected under Title IX regulations and reasonable modifications are available should disruptive circumstances arise. Please contact the Student Care Specialist for more information and to discuss options.
