23 The admissions committee may at any point in the process require the applicant to complete the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). Minimum required scores are 146 verbal and 4 analytical writing. The admissions committee will review all submitted materials and the candidate may be asked to come in for an interview. Students accepted through the UDE process must receive approval from the Admissions Committee for any future degree changes. Reentry Students Denver Seminary students who have matriculated but have not enrolled for up to two consecutive fall/spring terms or have graduated from Denver Seminary must reapply for admission. Reentry students must meet the degree requirements current at the time of admission. These students must submit the following: 1. Student application for admission This is available online at www.denverseminary.edu (then click the "Become a Student" button) or you may contact the admissions office at 800-922-3040 or 303-762-6937. Carefully read the NAE Statement of Faith, Guidelines for a Christian Lifestyle, and the Student Handbook policies that govern student life at the applicable campus of Denver Seminary. Sign the form only if you can do so without mental reservation. By signing this form you agree to abide by these standards and policies while attending school or face possible dismissal from the school. 2. A nonrefundable $45 application processing fee 3. Updated essays Update your biographical essay, and spiritual growth and development essay. All essays must be typed. a. Biographical essay (500-700 word limit) Address any major life challenges and changes that have impacted, or continue to impact, your personal growth and development (such as, why you decided to leave Denver Seminary, job loss, trauma, divorce, death) and how you have dealt with or are dealing with those issues. b. Spiritual growth and development essay (500-700 word limit) Include things such as, additional calls to ministry/vocation, ministry experiences, church involvement, which have occurred since last attending Denver Seminary. How have they impacted your spiritual identity and growth? c. Master of Theology (ThM) Writing Sample (1,000-2,000 word limit) Applicants for the ThM program should submit a sample academic research essay that they have authored by themselves consisting of approximately 1,000-2,000 words. The essay should include a well-defined thesis that the applicant goes on to defend or refute. It could take the form of a book review that critically evaluates the book under consideration. It could also be a published article or an unpublished essay. It should be in the general area in which the applicant is applying (e.g. Old Testament, New Testament, or Theology). 4. Application for major, concentration or track (if entering a new program or choosing a new concentration) 5. Two references At least one reference must be from a pastor or member of the church leadership team. All references must have known you for at least a year and should not be related to you. Th.M. applicants must submit one pastoral reference and one academic reference. 6. Official transcripts (if applicable) A transcript is required from every college or university where a degree has been completed since attending Denver Seminary. They must be sent directly from the school in sealed envelopes to Denver Seminary. Electronically issued transcripts are acceptable if issued directly by the institution or an approved issuing body.
