2016-2017 Denver Seminary West Texas Extension Student Handbook 14 Common Ground: The Chapel Gatherings of Denver Seminary Common Ground chapel services are held weekly during the fall and spring semesters. These community gatherings focus on worship, but they also include lectures and special conferences, as well as local, national and international speakers. During these gatherings faculty, staff, students and guests converge to demonstrate the importance of unity by worshiping, learning and praying together. Attendance Requirements Each student pursuing a degree at the Denver Seminary West Texas Extension site has a chapel requirement as a condition for their graduation. To meet this requirement, students need to attend ten chapels per semester for three semesters. Five of these chapels will be offered on-site at Hillside Christian Church, and the remaining five are to be fulfill online by listening to or watching the services from the main Denver campus that are catalogued here. Students at the West Texas Extension may listen to any five services from the current semester. Reporting Attendance To receive credit, students must submit a summary of the five online chapel services to the Department of Student Life by the last day of the semester in question. The summaries should include the date, speaker, title/theme, and a few sentences about the message, and they can be compiled and sent in one document. Once this document is received, attendance will be recorded accordingly. If the document is not received, attendance for that semester will not be recorded.
