15 Food Assistance The Seminary maintains a food pantry that is intended to assist low-income students and families of the Denver Seminary main campus. There is also a bread closet on the main campus, which is open to all students and consists of products donated by a local grocery store. Off-campus resources are also available. Refer to the main campus Student Handbook for additional information. Students enrolled at an extension campus should contact their site director for food services in their area. Health Insurance Denver Seminary recognizes that students and families have unique factors driving their decisions about health insurance and therefore does not require health insurance for all students.* However, assistance with navigating the insurance market is available from a licensed insurance consultant free of charge. Students who would like assistance with this should contact the student life office. *Health insurance is required for all international students and their dependents for the duration of their studies at Denver Seminary. Writing Center The Writing Center provides services and resources to develop and strengthen students' writing skills during their academic career by offering tutoring and editing services on the main campus throughout the academic year. For more information, contact the student life office. For information about writing and editing assistance at an extension campus, students should contact their site director. SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT Common Ground: Chapel Gatherings of Denver Seminary Common Ground chapel services are held each week during the fall and spring semesters on the main campus and at each extension campus. Denver Seminary faculty, staff, students, spouses and guests gather to focus on God through worship, teaching, and prayer. Attendance at Common Ground is required, and students are responsible for managing their attendance and selecting which semesters they would like to attend, so long as their requirement is completed by their graduation date. Students attending the Littleton campus in the Master of Divinity program are required to attend five semesters of chapel services (at least ten services of their choosing during each of those semesters). Students in the Master of Arts programs are required to attend three semesters of chapel (at least ten services of their choosing during each of those semesters). In the event that a student is dually enrolled in an MA and MDiv program, the higher requirement (five semesters) applies. Each student is responsible for tracking their own attendance via Moodle at the end of each semester. Attendance reporting is on the honor system and the form to submit it is found in the 'chapel' course listed in Moodle, available after the twelfth week of each semester. Students attending an extension campus must also fulfill the chapel attendance requirement as a condition for their graduation. To meet this requirement, MDiv students are required to attend ten chapels per semester for five semesters and MA students are required to attend ten chapels per semester for three semesters. Half of these services are offered on-site at the extension campus location; the remaining five are fulfilled online. Detailed information about attendance reporting can be found in the Student Handbook for each extension campus.
