21 Degree & GPA Requirements Applicants for master's-level programs must: 1. Hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university Students who lack a baccalaureate degree may qualify to apply for admission through the Undergraduate Degree Exemption (UDE) program. 2. Have at least a 2.5 (2.00 = C) undergraduate grade point average Applicants to the Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling or the Master of Arts program in the following major: Apologetics and Ethics, New Testament, Old Testament or Theology must have a 3.00 (B) undergraduate grade point average. For applicants who cannot meet this undergraduate standard, it may be possible to enter a degree or certificate program under one of the exceptions listed below. Applicants hoping to pursue an exception will be asked to submit a statement explaining why they do not meet the minimum GPA requirement. Contact an admissions counselor for more information about these exceptions: a. Enter as a non-degree student and complete predetermined courses with a minimum GPA re- quirement. Specific courses and GPA requirements are determined by the department chair of the program to which the student is interested in applying. b. Submit a Graduate Record Exam (GRE) with a minimum score of 146 verbal and 4 analytical. c. Complete at least fifteen hours of graduate work at an accredited institution with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Additional requirements for the Master of Theology (ThM) program: 1. Hold a Master of Divinity degree or its equivalent from an accredited seminary or university. 2. Have at least a 3.0 (3.0 = B) graduate grade point average. 3. Biblical Language requirements: a. ThM-Old Testament: three semesters of Hebrew and two semesters of Greek. b. ThM-New Testament: three semesters of Greek and two semesters of Hebrew. c. ThM-Theology: no biblical languages requirement. Additional requirements for the Doctor of Ministry program: 1. Hold a Master of Divinity degree or its equivalent from an accredited seminary or university 2. Have at least a 3.0 (3.0 = B) graduate grade point average. 3. Have at least three years of ministry experience following the first master's degree. Non-degree Applicants Non-degree students are limited to 15 semester hours of credit at the Master's level. Students who hold a ThM degree may take up to 9 semester hours of credit at the ThM level as a non-degree student. Students who hold a DMin degree may take up to 6 semester hours of credit at the DMin level as a non-degree student. After that, they must be admitted into a degree program to continue taking classes. Students who hold a Master of Divinity degree may take, for credit or audit, up to 6 semester hours of ThM classes or up to two DMin classes as a non-degree student with appropriate authorization from the Doctor of Ministry director. Exceptions to these limitations will be considered by the Registrar for students applying to the ThM and/or DMin programs who must meet MDiv equivalency. Students who are seeking MDiv equivalency for the sake of entry into the ThM must have completed 72 hours of MDiv work prior to beginning the ThM studies. A maximum of 9 semester hours of credit at the 800 level can be shared between Denver Seminary's MDiv and ThM degrees.
