CHURCH RESOURCE ENGAGE 11 Aging Years Are the Best Finishing Well Ministries (FWM) aims to stir up a vision for living well in a senior generation. Seniors have tremendous potential for encouraging each other and impacting the generations that follow them. Over 10,000 boomers turn 65 every day. Yet our society tends to marginalize older people when they retire and lose productivity. This even happens in the church. Older believers may feel as if they have done their share and believe it's time to turn ministry over to a younger generation. Yet our Savior's mandate to "make disciples" (Matt. 28:19) and to "grow in grace" (2 Pet. 3:18) are not limited by age. As we grow older, we have more to offer our families and the church than ever before. FWM works through churches, senior living facilities, and open workshops to encourage and equip seniors for life and ministry in their later years. The opportunities in aging years are countless and rich. As the English poet Robert Browning wrote in the first stanza of his magnificent poem, "Rabbi Ben Ezra," Come along grow old with me! The best is yet to be. The last of life for which the first was made: Our times are in His hand Who saith "A whole I planned, Youth shows but half; trust God: see all, nor be afraid!"
