Welcome New Counseling Faculty, July 1 Elizabeth (Liz) Norris ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF COUNSELING Liz Norris is a doctoral candidate and will earn her PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from Mercer University (May 2021). She holds an MA in professional counseling and a trauma specialization from Richmont Graduate University and a BA in speech communications from Valdosta State University. Professor Norris is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy, is a Nationally Certified Counselor, and a Board Certified TeleMental Health Provider. Liz has worked in a wide range of clinical settings including a homeless shelter and rehabilitation program, psychiatric hospital, missions agency, and private practice. 20 SPRING 2021 Dr. Eric Suddeath ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF COUNSELING Dr. Eric Suddeath holds a PhD in counselor education and supervision from the University of Mississippi, an MA in marriage and family therapy from Harding School of Theology, and a BA in youth and family ministry with a minor in psychology from Harding University. Dr. Suddeath is a licensed professional counselor, clinical supervisor, and counselor educator, whose research has focused on teaching preparation within counselor education and supervision doctoral programs. Dr. Suddeath has a passion for teaching and training doctoral students to be effective instructors, and he enjoys reading and writing about narrative therapy and investigating the effectiveness of blended and online instruction. Dr. Michell Temple ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF COUNSELING Dr. Michell Temple holds an EdD in professional counseling and supervision from the University of West Georgia and is a doctoral candidate at Regent University in counselor education and supervision (May 2021). She holds an MS in rehabilitation counseling from Georgia State University and a BFA in acting from Ithaca College. Dr. Temple's research focuses on the concepts of restoration and transformation from a resilience perspective. Her research areas include people from diverse ability and cultural backgrounds, posttraumatic growth, self- determination theory, and the infusion of spirituality and religion in counseling practice. She has developed a unique skill set that incorporates spirituality and religion, strength and wellness, and integrative therapeutic modalities to adapt counseling to meet clients' needs.
