Currently, one additional initiative being undertaken outdoors is the instillation of LED light fixtures. This will lead to a sixty percent energy savings for exterior building lighting. Denver Seminary's 2013 Day to Serve On September 24, 2013, Denver Seminary held its first annual Day to Serve. Classes were cancelled and offices were closed to encourage students, staff, and faculty to volunteer with the event. The Seminary partnered with over fifteen project sites in the Littleton area to serve and build relationships with the community. The Colorado Center for the Blind, Hudson Gardens, South Platte Park, ARC Thrift Stores, and East Elementary School are among the sites that were served by 193 Denver Seminary volunteers. The second annual Day to Serve is set for September 9, 2014. "The event was a great opportunity for our institution and the community. Our eyes were opened to the hearts and needs of people in our neighborhood of Littleton, relationships were built, and we were able to identify opportunities for service in the future." It can serve as a guide for lay persons and scholars alike as they navigate the Bible's understanding of money. Alemayehu Mekonnen, PhD ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF MISSIONS Culture Change in Ethiopia: An Evangelical Perspective is Dr. Mekonnen's first book published in the Western Hemisphere. In it, he explores the shifts in Ethiopia's culture from Haile Selassie to the present, including the once controversial issue of Eritrea.
